AI has become a hot topic for the last few months, especially due to the ChatGPT release.

Only lazy people don't talk about this.

ChatGPT for marketers

There are a lot of pros and cons regarding ChatGPT and AI overall.

Still, AI makes a huge impact on the business, and regardless of your personal attitude or business strategy, you cannot stop it. Sooner or later, people and companies will adopt and implement AI in their work, products, and processes. So, either you will surf the wave or watch others on the shore.

But let's talk about AI's impact on marketing specifically. As in any other business area, every company or person tent to be more efficient: to deliver the result at the highest possible quality in the shortest time. AI helps with just that.

ChatGPT can help speed up routine marketing tasks to deliver the work better and faster.

Here are some of the areas in which ChatGPT can help marketers.

The key to successfully utilizing ChatGPT is educating and asking the correct questions.

To get the right answer, you need to ask the right question.

Consider ChatGPT as your "friend" who can help you with work. Initially, it doesn't know too much (or knows nothing) about the context of your work. So, you need to describe the problem and give as much detailed information as required to understand the context.

Once you provided the complex information, you can ask ChatGPT what to do. The more specific questions you ask – the more relevant answer you can get.

Here is an example of an algorithm for how to work with ChatGPT.

Let's say you need a copy of the abstract for the campaign to promote one of your existing products.

  1. First, you need to provide information about your product and target customers. Use only publicly available information, for example, from the website.

  2. Then, ask what exactly you want, specifying the details. For example, "Can you write a copy of an abstract for the marketing campaign using the information provided above." (Additionally, the abstract should consist of 4 sentences; highlight the "X" advantage of the product; use an informative, general business tone of voice; provide two options of an abstract.)

  3. Once you get the abstract options, review them and see if they are relevant to what you expected. If it's not exactly what you need, try rephrasing the question or specifying the request. Repeat the exercise.

  4. When you are satisfied with the copy, rework it in Word to add more human touch. Never copy-paste, as it's not a smart approach using ChatGPT. You will communicate with humans in your campaign, so the communication should be human-to-human – not machine-to-human.

The good thing is that ChatGPT remembers the context, and if you need, later in the process, the copy for social media based on the abstract, you can always get back to this conversation and ask ChatGPT to provide the social copy aligned with the abstract.

Important! Before working with ChatGPT, please ensure you comply with the company’s security policies and do NOT put any confidential information in ChatGPT.

ChatGPT is a powerful tool but not a human. It doesn't have that level of intelligence (at least for now) as a human has to make human-intelligent decisions. For example, it cannot define the truth and what is not.

While ChatGPT can provide useful marketing insights or help with the content, the interpretation and utilization of that information ultimately fall on the marketer. Human intuition, intelligence, and expertise are essential for making informed decisions.

Use it smart as any other tool you have at your disposal to increase your productivity and to be more effective in your role.
